This week, Ceeva announced the launch of Ceeva Shield, a comprehensive set of cybersecurity services and tools to protect small and mid-size businesses and nonprofits organizations.

“Hackers are getting smarter and more creative about how they get into networks and inflict damage,” said Ceeva Vice President Rick Topping. “The old ways of protecting data and infrastructure – antivirus, annual cybersecurity training for employees, reactive fixes – aren’t cutting it for a lot of organizations now. And those organizations that continue with this approach will see increasing risk going forward.”

Insurance companies have already recognized the growing sophistication of bad actors. Cyber liability insurance requirements are expanding, and the expertise needed to demonstrate compliance is accelerating as well. Some cybersecurity premiums are surging in prices as high as 50%, and up to 100%. Questionnaires are becoming increasingly complex.

These more rigorous requirements come as the cost of ransomware attacks grow. The average cost of a cyberattack in 2022 was $4.35 million globally and nearly twice that eye-popping price tag ($9.44m) for businesses in the United States. Hackers launch an average of 50 million password attacks every day—579 per second.

“The best way to avoid catastrophic cost and loss of data is to embrace a proactive, always-on approach to cybersecurity,” Topping said. “We’ve developed Ceeva Shield to give clients piece of mind that we’re monitoring every aspect of their network and systems 24/7 and – this is important – responding as soon as an issue is detected. Less modern approaches will send a notification of an incident. But if that email comes in the middle of the night when no one is working, it might not be enough for you to control the damage.”

Ceeva Shield is available in two levels of tools and services. Gold includes access to a cybersecurity expert, annual scans, remote management and monitoring, endpoint protection, web and email filtering, backup and security for Microsoft 365 and Google Assets, and ongoing end-user phishing testing and training. The Platinum package includes all that as well as a 24/7/365 managed security operations center, and managed thread detection and response for endpoints and the cloud.

“We would love to see all of our clients with the strongest possible security posture,” Topping said. “We believe in the protection both these packages deliver. Those with highly sensitive data or regulatory requirements to protect that data – like healthcare, finance, and government contractors – will especially want to consider the more rigorous cybersecurity offer.

“We don’t want to scare anyone, but the truth is, 75% of SMBs could not continue operating if they were hit with ransomware,” said Topping.  “The tools and services in Ceeva Shield will protect our clients from accelerating cybersecurity risks and help them manage their cyber liability premiums. No one is at the mercy of the hackers if they get their systems in order ahead of an attack.”
